THREE IMPORTANT THINGS JESUS BROUGHT TO US
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
There’re three important things that the Lord Jesus brought to us which every Christian must study diligently, understand and live by, especially this yuletide season. These are righteousness, eternal life, and fellowship. These are three things we receive from Jesus Christ that no one could have any other way. There’s no religion in the world that can give them, and in our study today, we will focus on one of them— righteousness.
Righteousness or the righteousness of God is the manifestation of His excellence, love and purpose. When we talk about the righteousness of God, we’re dealing with His excellence in everything; He’s at the top of everything. He’s excellent. Then, it’s also the manifestation of His love and His righteous purpose in everything. There’s a righteousness about God in everything. When that righteousness is manifested toward man, something happens: man receives that righteousness and it produces in him the rightness of God.
This is so important because God is faultless. If you can fault Him, that means He falls short, but He never falls short. He’s ever and always right. Whatever He thinks, says, or does is just right. He’s imparted the same nature to us. Now we can think right, talk right, act right and live right.
This is what happened when you received Jesus into your life to be born again. It wasn’t a religion you got; the rightness of God was imparted to you as a gift (Romans 5:17). It had to be imparted because you couldn’t attain it or make it happen for yourself. It can never be gotten any other way. But through Jesus Christ, we have the rightness of God manifested in us by divine impartation.
This righteousness of God is what gives us right standing in the presence of the Father without guilt, fear, condemnation or the sense of inferiority. We never could have served God or lived for Him until His righteousness was given to us. This is something amazing you got from Jesus when you believed in Him; righteousness. We’ll review the other two in our subsequent studies.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the gift of righteousness. I walk in boldness and confidence, knowing I have right standing with you. I live in the consciousness of who I am in Christ, free from guilt, condemnation, or fear. Thank you for making me your righteousness in Christ Jesus. I reign in life and express your nature of excellence and love, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
If you’re blessed by this devotional, believing every words you heard by faith in your heart, and would love to make Jesus the lord of your life, then speak the confessions below out loud, and mean them with your heart:
“O Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead. I believe He’s alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I’m born again. Thank you Lord, for saving my soul! I’m now a child of God. Hallelujah!”
